Hello folks. As with the post I made last month (see above link), I'm having the same problem with OpenVPN client (FusionVPN) and NordVPN on yet the latest firmware. Same issues as before, what ever has changed from 3.0.0.4_384_20648 to 3.0.0.4.384.21045 ... and now 3.0.0.4.384_21140 is causing this. With VPN connection, I cannot visit Amazon . com or it loads very very very slowly. I've...

RT-AC5300 upgrade 21140 from 21045-NO ISSUES :)

My mesh setup is shown in the signature. Upgraded today, 7/11/2018.

Used the Web GUI to update the mesh (parent and two nodes) from 21045. Single click did all 3 routers.

No reboot needed. Took about 5 minutes from clicking Administration>check update>then click on update.

When parent finished the update it came back to the web interface (signed in again) and both nodes were showing with clients attached.

No issues at all so go-for-it with some confidence the update works....

I have reported this issue to Asus, Merlin and posted on forums.

Asus pretty much a no answer on the tech side, well I expected less at least I got a reply from a level 1 canned response o_O

Merlin says contact Asus :rolleyes:

So this issue I have had after Merlin 378.50 and Asus 3.0.0.4.378.8258 is anything higher than these builds and you are setting up Media Bridge the Media Bridge simply stops responding every 24 hours. I AM ON THE LATEST FIRMWARE of Merln and tried on latest...

Hi All,
Have been testing AIMesh for a week. Unfortunately not getting good results with it.
I have 1 AC86U as the parent and the AC86U & AC66U as the node setup in AI Mesh. The problem I'm facing is that the router keeps disconnecting from the internet and resets by itself RANDOMly. Based on the systemlog, everything just kind off rebooted. NTP time settings all reset.

I've been going through the forum and have set almost any best practices from the Wifi side but this is still not...

Aimesh issue with 3.0.0.4.384.21140

Router: AC68U(node), AC88U(main)

AC68U Firmware: 3.0.0.4.384.21140
AC88U firmware: 3.0.0.4.384.21045
Issue: Aimesh.
1. Sometimes devices can't find wifi.
2. Sometimes Wifi is disconnected suddenly.
3. Sometimes very weak signal.

I think it doesn't change the connection from main to node properly.
Is this firmware fixed bugs or created new bugs? There was no problem with previous firmware at all. I'm gonna clear NVRAM and reattach nodes later. Why is this only happened to me? I'm cursed.

Does anyone know the differences between RT-AC1900U and RT-AC1900 ?

Why did only this explicit unit get an 21152 update only 5 days after 21140 launch???
What is special to it?

I compared 21140 firmware for RT-AC1900U with those of other 68U types and has been identically trx.
So I suppose we could use this 21152 for others as well.

Loaded on my RT-AC68U as mesh-node without troubles and changed back to AP-mode still running.

Hi everyone, I would like you to share your experiences with the aimesh function. I would like to connect two routers, gt-ac5300 as the main router and rt-ac86u as a node, using the wifi as a backhaul channel, due to the distance between its equipment and the impossibility of laying ethernet cables.

Asus have a very poor CORE and now they just keep bolting SH1T on top, very unprofessional company. I do not understand what has happened, it's was never like this before, must be something like their entire network development team have walked out, now all new guys frantically trying to understand the source code and failing miserably.

Due to the CORE being bad ALL their network products are affected, look at the change log for the latest firmware 3.0.0.4.384.21140, they are hiding what...

Rather than creating a new thread every time a new firmware is released for Asus RT-AC3200, I suggest we maintain one thread. This gives us one place to:
- Easily find reports about how previous firmwares functioned, if current is not that great.
- Subscribe to. Don't have to subscribe to a new thread every time a new firmware appears.

Airplay 2 on mesh

I’ve had a lot of success with the mesh setup over the past few months. This week using airplay 2 im seeing single speakers drop randomly for milliseconds and then resume. Sometime they fall out of sync during the process. pausing the airplay 2 stream for a moment will typically regroup things until the next hiccup.

If I drop back to a single router the speakers work flawlessly. I wonder if the mesh arrangement is causing some timing related issues. Anyone else running mesh and...

Official firmware won't spin down HDD attached to USB

I have a AC68U and Merlin used to be fine to spin down HDD connected to USB. Now I switched to Aimesh firmware and same HDD keep spinning. Is there anyway to enable HDD spin down? Thank you.

I had been using the Merlin branch of firmware since I first got my router, but wanted to try AIMesh with a second router (AC5300 + AC68u). I am running a USB3 RAID array that I have shared. As soon as I updated (from scratch, cleared settings) I could not see or connect to the share. After trying tons of things I enabled SMBv1 client support on my windows computers it suddenly started working.

Are you telling me that this firmware only supports a broken sharing system that's disabled in...

Is this right? Official AsusWRT Samba uses SMBv1 only?

Wifi Upload not limited by QoS on RT-AC86U

Noticed while testing Bufferbloat that my hardwired devices respected the QoS upload and download limits I set but wifi users (testing on both 5GHz and 2.4) did not. Running on a Fiber connection using PPPoe.
Has anyone come across this before?

Hello everyone,

Today I have updated my modem ( DSL-AC68U) after I got an update notification. When the modem finished updating and rebooting I have noticed that the DSL driver is messing and couldn't recognize the DSL signal even though the DSL LED is on. I tried different firmwares and couldn't fix it.


This issue is common after this update as I have found many people complain with the same problem.

This guy has the same problem on another forum...
