Static IP for AiMesh Node

pardon the ignorance,

I would like to set up an AiMesh Node with static IP in order to share an USB printer over the network. Currently, the node is in DHCP mode; while the IP address has not (or does not) change, I like to assign an IP address to it so that my internal network is a bit more organized.

I can't seem to find a way to setup the AiMesh Node with a static IP address; when pairing the node with router the IP address is assigned via DHCP. After which, we basically lose direct...

ASUS RT-AC68P did the firmware update to Version 3.0.0.4.384.45713 (from original purchase ver 3.0.0.4.376.2104)

I had previously downloaded the firmware zip file and planned to do a manual update without the website involvement. But I blew it being an Asus newbee and inadvertently clicked the CHECK button not knowing it was going to take over. It downloaded the file and did the update all in one go. The update was successful, took about 3 mins and then I rebooted the router and my laptop...

For the ASUS RT-AC68P Utilities update version 1.4.8.0 (2017/01/25) 4.56 MBytes, (ASUS Device Discovery Tool) fix for stability and removed vulnerable driver, OS support: Win XP, Win 7, Win8, Win10.

Port forwarding weird

Hi guys,
I just came accross a weird thing.
When I enable port forwarding for my NAS I can access it remotely without any problems.
But when I disable port forwarding I still can access my NAS from an external device when I'm using the same browser. I can refresh the page and use the service.
When I use an incognito tab in the browser I cannot access it anymore like it should be.

What is the cause and why is it that way?

Asus ever going to fix dual wan?

Despite asus generally have good support or great if your using Merlin firmware its always failed in the dual wan support.

From day one its never worked correctly often not falling over to backup internet connections of falling over then falling back to the failed connection.

The issue has always seemed to be how asus detects a failed connection with it often refusing to fall over unless the cable from the down modem is unplugged or fall back for some reason even though the primary modem...

Hi there,

I have spotted a lot of traffic to dns.msftncsi.com non stop, day and night.BUT, I have no windows s/w in my network

To really narrow it down, I have switched off all 25 devices on my network, to end up with the router (RT-AC66U), pi hole & a ubuntu laptop. Still 4 queries per minute !!

On another forum (pi-hole) , I gained the following insight:

I upgraded my AC88U 7 days ago to 384 45713. The first 3 days the Upload/Download Bandwidth scaled to a 100 mbit, then suddenly it scaled to a 1000 mbit.

Seem to remember this has been happening from time to time the past year or so in several different stock firmwares, but I don't think I've been seeing it in Merlins.

Anyone know why this is happening, is it supposed to be dynamic in a way so it adapts to the internet line speed in a way?

Hello to everyone.

I have a really weird thing going on here and I'd like to ask for some help.

The problem is as follows:

I have a home ADSL Internet Connection of up to 24 Mbps for Download and up to 1 Mbps for Upload. I know that these are really lame internet speeds but in my country that is the best possible speed for simple ADSL connections. Considering all the noise and connectivity loss, I would be happy if I had 14 Mbps of download and 0.7 Mbps of Upload Speed.

Who Tested this ha ha ha

Its driving me nuts, I can no longer see all my home smart devices, tried a refresh on right, nothing.

When I re boot the router it flashes about 40 devices, then clears to about 10 clients listed. Tried everything to get them back.

Ive been adding smart devices a few at a time, each time I use the network map to show it online on 2.4g they usually have a name that's meaningless like ESNN65GH which is a wifi socket, I then rename it to FridgeKitchen and then...

Guest Network on Nodes

I'm looking for something a bit different.

I have an AC86U as my router and an AC68U as my node. I run an airbnb in an adjacent property with the node in that house, tied into my main router.

I would like to have a guest network on that node only for the guests to use to access the internet, while my main network is still in a mesh configuration so my smart locks, thermostats etc run off the main network segregated from guests. Is this possible at all? I don't need guest network...

Drastically reduced performance with newest fw

Currently I'm using AsusWRT 3.0.0.4.384_45149.
Today I've upgraded it to the latest version. After the upgrade, the reading from an NFS service slowed down.
(before the upgrade, reading a text file with about 30000 lines needed ~0.5secs, after the fw upgrade the same read operation ran ~4-5secs...)
After a brief investigation I've found the source of performance degradation: I'm logging both accepted and dropped packets. In the earlier versions the log shows only packets from the WAN (ppp0)...

Aimesh - Did anyone give up?

Hi,

Just out of curiosity - did anyone decide to give up on their Aimesh endeavors and go all in on something else such as Orbi, Google Wifi or similar? If so, did that improve things?

I am in Aimesh hell with daily connectivity issues where I need to reboot the master node to solve things.

Main: RT-AC68U - Wired backhaul to RT-AC66U_B1

Been patching and resetting and following general guidelines, but to no avail. Quite contrary, seems to be getting worse for each patch. Don't have...

ASUS 4G-AC68U - Cellular 4G keep dropping consistently

Hello All,

I'm only using my router as a 4G router and have serious issue as it keeps dropping my 4G connection so often that it's really annoying.

In my settings, the cellular network is set as primary and the dual WAN mode is turned OFF.
