Asus app security question

Previous to a month or so I ago, I hadn't enabled the AI protection on the app so I turned it on. Days later, the WiFIiauto-connect feature on my OnePlus 5T running Android 9.0.8 stopped working though it connects instantly by tapping the icon. So I'm curious if there's any connection between the auto-connect and the AI protection. I contacted OnePlus support and we went through the tedious process of doing a hard reset which is EXTREMELY tedious but it didn't resolve the problem. Thoughts?

DNS advertising and stock firmware

I'm running stock firmware (not much choice with gt-ax11000) and I would like to be able to turn off the router broadcasting it's IP address as a DNS server (i.e merlin option "Advertise router's IP in addition to user-specified DNS" checkbox). I'm running a pi-hole for DNS and I don't want any DNS traffic going through the router, is there an NVRAM setting that will turn this off?

How do you turn off AiMesh mode?

I had my AC5300 set up as the master router with a secondary router set as an aimesh node. This second router was someone elses and moved out, so it was taken away hastily. So now my router is stuck with only one of the 5ghz channels working. The other says its an aimesh backhaul. And googling around all I can find is how to remove a node, by having that node still on the network.

How in the world do I turn aimesh mode off without this second router?

And please do not say "reset the...

[SOLVED] Help! Cannot connect AC68U to my AC86U as aimesh node

Quick background
- 86U brand new just purchased and ensured it has latest firmware for aimesh
- 68U older router running v24/2014 flavor of dd-wrt. Used Asus Recovery to flash latest firmware to 68U. The first time I flashed the router was very slow so I did a factory reset in the Asus UI itself and then reflashed the firmware a second time and it seems fast and stable.

AC68U: Parental Control - Time scheduler 30 minute interval?

Hi,
Is there a possibility for the RT-AC68U to setup the Parental Control - Time scheduler with an interval of 30 minutes?
Now I can only use whole hours, like from 14:00 to 16:00 but not to 16:30.
Or maybe with an other firmware like merlin?

Upgrades break AiMesh RT-AC86U primary and two RT-AC1900P nodes

I like AiMesh in my home despite the headaches and lack of standards. Recently, I've been forced to stay at lower firmware levels on my primary RT-AC86U with 3.0.0.4.384_45717 and two RT-AC1900P nodes at 3.0.0.4.384_45149 for different reasons. Both nodes are connected to the primary via Ethernet as the preferred connection method. I'm looking for suggestions to fix the isuses below:

I tried RT-AC86U 81049 (plus the recent dud that froze the UI) and have an issue shown in other threads...

New GT-AC2900 won't join AiMesh as a node

I have an RT-AC5300 as the AiMesh Router and tried setting up the GT-AC2900 as a node, but it keeps failing. I then setup the AC2900 as a normal router and checked for a firmware upgrade (since it is new out of the box) and it said that it is up to date.

Any suggestions?

Does AIMesh rely on router's DHCP?

$

I have DHCP turned off on my router and have a Windows 2008R2 server handling DNS and DHCP. I can NOT get my two RT-AC88U routers to connect to each other via AiMesh. The closest I've gotten is I've plugged the node into the main router, and it seemed to work, but the node IMMEDIATELY shows up as "Offline" under the AIMesh nodes.

You DO get a warning when turning off DHCP on the router that it could affect AIMesh (however, OpenVPN hands out addresses just fine with DHCP turned off under "LAN").

I was just seeing if I could tweak my QoS settings, so, I decided to do a speedtest as the gui recommends, in order to set my max. upload and download settings. I noticed in my logs after the test, the following:

Sep 10 11:52:42 kernel: HTB: quantum of class 10060 is big. Consider r2q change.

2 clients are connecting to RT-AC68U?

I have a puzzling (at least to me) problem that I haven't seen before on my RT-AC68U's (the primary and an AiMesh node on wired backhaul). I recently upgraded to the the latest firmware (3.0.0.4.384.45713) and after a few days of running, I was experiencing some issues mainly:

1. The kids were reporting their iPads kept disconnecting from the WLAN randomly
2. One of the laptops (HP Spectre x360) which never had any issues connecting on 802.11ac in the past, now suddenly will only connect...

3.0.0.4.384.45717 removes X attribute in /jffs files

Maybe it's been mentioned before and I missed it. I just noticed that, on a reboot, all my executable files in /jffs and below had their X attribute removed. This includes the .asusrouter script I used to schedule some cron housekeeping. I believe this is a new "feature". I saw this on all three of my RT-AC68Us only after installing
3.0.0.4.384.45717. One is configured as the AiMesh network router, one is a node, and one is a repeater.

Has anyone else seen this and is there any way around...

Greetings,

I am running the official AsusWRT firmware (45717) on AC68U. In my previous setup I was using AiMesh, which was problematic. I have just moved into a new house and only have the main router setup. It is running as an AiMesh router but with all the nodes un-paired.

However, I am still experiencing wifi issue. To begin with, the wifi is unstable. I would see that a wifi-connected device (such as a cell phone) losing connection once a while, only to be re-connected in a few...

Although "Respond ICMP Echo (ping) Request from WAN" in firewall settings is set to NO, I get a test result:
"Ping Reply: RECEIVED (FAILED) — Your system REPLIED to our Ping (ICMP Echo) requests, making it visible on the Internet..."
while running the tests in https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2

Can anyone please help/explain?
